Rev. Dr. Jason Yeung is a senior pastor and theologian who is passionate about training Chinese church leaders in China, Hong Kong, and Canada.

Dr. Yeung earned his earliest degrees from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Concordia Theological Seminary, and Southeast Asia Graduate School of Theology. In the 1980s, he pursued further studies at the University of London. He has written many academic papers and over ten monographs.

 

Dr. Yeung has served the church for many years. From 1987 to 1995, he served as the senior pastor of Ottawa Chinese Alliance Church. In January 1991, he was ordained as a pastor by the Canadian Chinese Alliance Churches Association. From 1996 to 2000, he served as the consultant pastor of Evangelical Chinese Gospel Church in Hong Kong. In 2000, he returned to its parent church, the Chinese Rhenish Church in Tai Po, serving as its senior pastor during its growth from 200 to 1,000 people.

 

From 1994 to 1995, he served in Canada as a visiting professor at Regent College, then at Canadian Theological Seminary. In August 1995, he returned to Hong Kong to teach at Alliance Bible Seminary, then at China Graduate School of Theology (CGST) in 1999, where he was also chief editor of the Journal of CGST. Dr. Yeung is passionate about training Chinese pastors in China, and has served as a visiting professor at Beijing Renmin (People's) University, Sichuan University, Lanzhou University, Wuhan University and Sun Yat-sen (Zhongshan) University. From 2006 to 2007, he was a visiting professor of religion and philosophy at Hong Kong Baptist University.

 

To serve the need for theological education among the Canadian Chinese population, Dr. Yeung's whole family moved from Hong Kong to Calgary on January 1, 2012. Dr. Yeung became president and academic dean of the Canadian Chinese School of Theology at Ambrose Seminary. He retired on July 31, 2017.

 

Dr. Yeung is now a retired pastor of the Canadian Chinese Alliance Churches Association and a consultant pastor of the Chinese Rhenish Church in Tai Po. He also teaches in the MA in Contemporary Leadership program at Lumina College.
